Windows 11 Is Finally Getting A Modern Audio Mixer

Microsoft is testing a modern audio mixer in Windows 11, which replaces the traditional volume mixer present in previous versions of Windows. It looks like the modern audio mixer will be more intuitive, visually appealing, and feature-rich compared to the traditional volume mixer.

The modern audio mixer is being tested in Windows 11 Insider Preview build 25309, as per Microsoft’s recent blog post, and it includes several new features such as per-app volume controls and advanced sound settings like spatial audio and Dolby Atmos. According to Microsoft, “The updated audio quick settings experience brings a modern volume mixer that allows for quick customization of audio on a per-app basis, with additional control to swap devices on the fly.”

A new keyboard shortcut (WIN + CTRL + V) has also been added to bring users directly to the volume mixer for faster control of the experience. With this change, users can tailor their audio experience better with more control and fewer clicks to better manage their favorite apps.

In their blog post, Microsoft mentions “We are beginning to roll this feature out, so it isn’t available to all Insiders in the Dev Channel just yet as we plan to monitor feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.”

The modern audio mixer is a significant improvement over the traditional volume mixer and is expected to enhance the user experience for Windows 11 users. However, it is important to note that the feature is still in the testing phase and may be subject to change before it is released to the general public.
