It looks like days ahead have just gotten even better for people with Netflix’s Premium plan. While the company already offers the highest quality video resolution without ads, the ability to watch and download series and films on four supported devices at a time, and more, Netflix has now introduced spatial audio to its members with a Premium plan.
For those of you who do not know what spatial audio is, it is a type of audio technology that creates an immersive, 3D sound experience for viewers. With spatial audio, sounds are positioned in a specific location within a virtual space, which makes it seem like the sounds are coming from different directions, distances, and heights around the listener. This creates a more realistic and natural audio experience that can make viewers feel like they are inside the scene, rather than just watching it on a screen.
This new feature brings an immersive, cinematic sound experience to any device, without the need for any additional equipment. Now available on more than 700 of Netflix’s top-watched titles, including Stranger Things, The Watcher, Wednesday, and Knives Out: Glass Onion, members can enjoy the highest quality sound experience whether they are watching at home on TV or a computer, or on the go with just a phone or tablet.
On their official YouTube channel, Netflix has recently uploaded a short video demonstrating the differences members can find when they watch the productions with spatial audio.
This feature is also soon expected to be added to new popular titles including You, Your Place or Mine, Luther: The Fallen Sun, and Tour de France. To check out this new feature, members can simply look for a new spatial audio badge on shows and movies or type “spatial audio” into the search bar on Netflix. Then, you just have to click on a supported title and the feature should be automatically enabled. There is no need to tap into the app’s settings to enable this feature.
