Nothing to Launch New Audio Wearable on March 22 Featuring LHDC 5.0 Codec

    -

London-based consumer tech company Nothing is set to launch their latest audio wearable, the Nothing Ear (2), on March 22. The launch will be live-streamed, giving everyone interested the chance to follow the event.

Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing, has revealed new information about the Ear (2) in a recent interview with Forbes. According to Pei, the Ear (2) uses a more enhanced building process, utilizing triple shot injection molding, which elevates the earbuds’ resistance to the elements, giving it an IP54 rating.

But what sets the Ear (2) apart is its support for LHDC 5.0 (Low Latency HD Audio Codec), a codec that streams higher-quality audio over Bluetooth. Pei stated that the earbuds “support LHDC 5.0 streaming and also hi-res audio as a result of that. So for any music source that’s hi-res certified, we will support it really well.” Pei even went as far as to contact Spotify to update their library to LHDC.

This news is a game-changer for audiophiles, as they can now listen to certified hi-res audio in its full glory. Nothing has certainly set the bar high for wireless earbuds with their latest offering, which promises not only enhanced durability but also an unparalleled audio experience.

The Ear (2) is set to compete with established players in the audio wearable market, such as Apple’s AirPods Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro. With its impressive features, the Ear (2) is poised to be a serious contender in this highly competitive market.

    Revealing the Design

In January, a reputed tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks) teamed up with a publication to share the first renders of the Ear (2), giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the upcoming device. These images reveal that the Nothing Ear (2) will maintain its predecessor’s distinctive semi-transparent design. The earbuds are also expected to come in a transparent case, just like the original model. Interestingly, there don’t appear to be any significant changes in the Ear (2)’s design compared to its predecessor.

    Specifications

Nothing’s Ear (2) launch is definitely something to watch out for, as it promises to bring a new level of audio experience to consumers. With recent reports shedding more light on the Ear (2)’s features and capabilities, we can understand that one of the standout features of the Ear (2) is expected to be its 11.6mm speakers, which are the same size as its predecessor’s. This will ensure that users get to enjoy the same high-quality audio experience that made the original Earbuds so popular.

Additionally, the Ear (2) is said to boast an impressive playback time of 6 hours and a total battery life of up to 36 hours with the case. Users can charge the earbuds via the USB-C port or wirelessly with a Qi-compatible charger.

The Ear (2) also comes equipped with Hybrid ANC (active noise cancellation), which effectively reduces background noise for an immersive listening experience. Each earbud weighs 4.5 grams, making it slightly lighter than its predecessor. The earbuds also have an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, making them suitable for use in various environments.

According to reports, the Ear (2) may be able to connect to two devices simultaneously, a feature that many users have been asking for. The Personalized ANC feature is another exciting addition, allowing users to adjust the strength of the ANC to their liking. Additionally, the Advanced EQ feature enables users to customize the sound settings to their preferences.

In conclusion, the Nothing Ear (2) is shaping up to be a worthy successor to the popular original Earbuds. With its impressive features and capabilities, the Ear (2) is poised to be a strong contender in the crowded wireless earbuds market.
