Cassette Player Gets A Reboot With Bluetooth

    -

When was the last time you used a cassette player? It’s hard to recall right? Probably, some of the new generations don’t even know what a Cassette player is. From 1979, when the first portable cassette player was introduced, we have witnessed tremendous innovations as to how music is produced and consumed.

In this spectacular journey of innovations, we have seen the audio cassette losing to the CD and later to digital music formats. However, it is not entirely forgotten. It is still being cherished by a very small passionate group of music listeners who collect retro music technology, thus achieving a kind of an audiophile state, though not the same as Vinyl LP.

Though we have come a long way, for some of us, nothing can still replace the joy of winding the cassette tape using a pencil or our little finger. And, come what may – CDs or digital formats – none of these give us the same kind of satisfaction while listening to music as we got watching the tape turn in a cassette player.

All these small enjoyments that added life to music listening back in the 80s and 90s can now be experienced once again. Here’s a startup Ninm Lab which is all set to bring out a cassette player dubbed It’s OK, spiced up with some latest technology.

Touted as the world’s first cassette player with Bluetooth, the It’s OK is the result of an amalgamation of the technology from 2018-19 and the idea from 1970. It not only plays music, but also allows you to record audio upto a length of 60 mins per cassette. If you think, this wasn’t just enough, it even runs on AA batteries, just like the old Sony Walkman did, and it also has a 3.5 mm jack for your favorite wired headphones. It comes with a mind popping look and feel while sporting a translucent design.

It’s time to take out all your old cassettes and dust them off, because now you can show off your nostalgia in style! The project is currently available on Kickstarter with pledging options starting from about USD 65 including a blank cassette.
