NUGEN Audio Introduces Jotter: Innovative Notetaking and Collaboration Software for Audio Professionals

The UK-based audio software company, NUGEN Audio, has unveiled Jotter, a groundbreaking notetaking and collaboration software designed for engineers and mixers in the music and audio production industry. Jotter offers timecode-linked annotation, enabling professionals to collaborate and share the creative process with clients anywhere in the world. NUGEN Audio will showcase Jotter at the upcoming 2023 NAB Show, which will be held from April 15-19 in Las Vegas.

Audio production can be a complex process with various editing, timing, and automation tasks. Jotter helps professionals stay organized with its notes and to-do lists feature. Clients can provide feedback on specific points in a mix where they want changes, and engineers can easily track and manage these notes using Jotter, streamlining the workflow and improving communication between clients and engineers.

“Jotter is a game-changer for the audio industry,” said Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe, NUGEN Audio product specialist. “It provides a seamless way for engineers and mixers to collaborate with clients and keep their workflow organized. Whether you’re working on a complex project or just looking to improve your creative process, Jotter can help.”

Jotter was initially released as a stealth product to NUGEN subscribers who responded to the company’s annual survey. The software is already being used by audio professionals around the world. Jotter is available as a fully licensed plug-in for integration into Pro Tools, a popular digital audio workstation, and as a free standalone software with the same management tools for clients and collaborators. Users can also download and share a CSV report with notes from each session, providing a comprehensive record of the creative process.

One of the standout features of Jotter is its collaborative tools, which allow clients to load the latest mix of a song into the standalone app, add notes throughout the file, and export the notes to send them to a mixing engineer. The engineer can then import the file into Jotter and view the client’s feedback, locked to the exact position on the timeline. The notes are accessible in both Waveform and List view, and users can export them as a CSV for a more traditional approach.

The Waveform view in Jotter allows users to zoom in or out on the audio track to add, find, delete, or move individual notes, providing a visual representation of the changes. The List view enables users to click on a timecode note to jump to that position in the waveform and toggle a checklist to help track completed changes, making it easy to keep track of progress and ensure that all feedback is addressed.

“NUGEN Audio has always been at the forefront of innovation in the audio industry, and Jotter is another example of our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for audio professionals,” said Paul Tapper, CEO of NUGEN Audio. “We are excited to showcase Jotter at the upcoming NAB Show and demonstrate how it can revolutionize the way engineers and mixers collaborate with their clients.”
